Hey that's wonderful, I like that a lot. I'll be delighted to include it at my next round of updates... Would be nice to have a couple of more people take a peek and comment in the meantime... >Would be nice to have a couple of more people take a peek and comment in the meantime... please do give me all receommendations and I'll change as appropriate- I first posted this in the forums ( http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=51661 ) and got some good feedback from people on there I'm glad you like it :) I quite like it as well its missing some links though, im my opinion. like a link to the manual that is installed with Apache, via the symlink in the docroot. also maybe a link to /doc , which ive taken the liberty of setting up so that you can browse the documentation on your machine... those two would be nice... other than that, i guess theres no reason to not include this eh? :-) > a link to the manual that is installed with Apache, via the symlink > in the docroot. done - not sure of the path to that - will check on my box tonight > also maybe a link to /doc done - will need to check how to reference file system in a url, again, will check and fix also fixed weird IE rendering problem, a strange large 'search' button, and some other trivial things glad you like it george That's nice. A few suggestions:- -- maybe the colour theme can be made a little more like the forums or the gentoo home page; a little more purplish; just a thought -- links to the gentoo mailing list archives for gentoo-user and gentoo-dev or even all of them is a possibility in their own section labelled 'Mailing lists'. -- There's also some links on there which I wouldn't really use at all but that's a preference. It looks cool the only problem I see with it is that you have multiple languages for index.html in /var/www/localhost/htdocs. (ie index.html.de) So the page would have to be translated and I only know english. :) chuck > you have multiple languages for index.html in /var/www/localhost/htdocs.
couldn't we start with it just being the index.html.en version, and any i8n-ness would happen later?
Have checked links, removed linkrot, and added a bmg link, btw
George
could Gentoo * Gentoo Home * Gentoo forums * All current packages * Gentoo bugs * Gentoo lists * CVS changelog * user docs * Developer docs * gentoo-portage * news:alt.os.gentoo * breakmygentoo.net be changed to something like gentoo.org * Home * Forums * Packages * Bugs * Lists * CVS changelog * Docs * Developer docs misc * gentoo-portage * news:alt.os.gentoo * breakmygentoo.net At least breakmygentoo and gentoo-portage are not offical. From my point of view they could be just removed. Carsten, good point about gentoo.org and misc, done Removing the bmg/gentoo-portage links? I use 'em, dunno about anyone else. thoughts? George, I just think it should be made clear what is Gentoo and what is releated only. When you add bmg, where will you stop? E.g. sites like gentoo.de, gentoo.it,... could be added, too. Will look at it again later. People are concenered about branding when we figure out what to do then we will revist this again. |
