Description alex 2003-05-03 13:40:18 UTC
When attempting to scan a document using xsane 0.86 and the umax sane-backend I
get kernel panic and must reboot. If I use the command line scanimage option I
can succesfully scan the document. I cannot find any relevant info in the kernel
logs.
I emerged xsane 0.90 but it also caused this problem.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.run xsane
2.set scan mode to color
3.click start button

Actual Results:
scanner attempts to scan the page, appears to finish then kernel panic.

Expected Results:
scanned the document and allowed to save the image

Gentoo 1.4, kde 3.11, aic7xxx scsi driver loaded as a module, umax vista s6 scsi
scanner, gentoo sources kernel 2.4.20 r2 with preemptive patch and low latency.
nvidia geforce2 vid card.

Could we have a register dump please?

Also, what version of sane-backends are you using?

can you try to get some more info from the panic? how about trying this with a vanilla kernel.

I recently upgraded to the latest xsane and sane backends. they work beautifully. there fore I am closing this bug.
