Az: any ideas? My bright /var/run/utmpx fix maybe ? Try updating to baselayout-1.7.8-r1, and make sure that /etc/init.d/bootmisc is updated. Then reboot and test again. I also have this problem. Top reports 121 users. The command users shows: "root root root root root...". When you shutdown it sends the notification to all those roots, so you get a pile of messages at the same time. Therefore, this problem is not with the shutdown scripts, but with all those users. I have not made any more users yet (i tryed superadduser but it didn't work: maybe related to this?) so I don't know if this problem is only with root or with any user. The who command shows alot of root's logged i, on every virtual console. The login times show every time i have logged in, from a week ago to now. There seems to be a bunch of times where a user has logged in 3 times on the same console at the same time. Is this a race condition that is causing this? It is logging us in multiple times and never logging out. This could be a major security concern. Here is the output of my w command. I have logged into 3 different consoles. 1:30am up 1:20, 121 users, load average: 0.01, 0.01, 0.00 USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT root vc/1 - 12:11am 0.00s 0.03s 0.00s w root vc/2 - 12:19am 6.00s 0.56s 0.48s lynx root vc/3 - 12:24am 35:28 0.33s 0.33s -bash root vc/1 - Mon 4pm 0.00s 0.03s 0.00s w root vc/1 - 12:11am 0.00s 0.03s 0.00s w root vc/2 - 12:19am 6.00s 0.56s 0.48s lynx root vc/3 - 12:24am 35:28 0.33s 0.33s -bash Resolved by baselayout-1.7.8-r1 You can close it now. Thanks guys. |
