On Reboot or Halt getting multiple Beeps and Broadcast messages.
This is after a upgrade to baselayout v1.7.8

The command "w" returns mulitple users and adds another after each reboot/halt.

Tried fixing it with 
cat /dev/null > utmp
cat /dev/null > utmpx

Deleting utmpx and
cat /dev/null > /var/log/wtmp ; cat /dev/null > /var/run/utmp
