not a livecd bug I'm getting the same problem. Reproducable always. Stage 2 emerge system fails with sys-apps/man-1.5l-r2 apparently (and rightly) complaining about missing hexdump. Athlon XP 1700+ 512MB ram nforce chipset 80GB Hdd default CHOST, CFLAGS, CXXFLAGS custom USE flags, to remove KDE/QT ;D *** Bug 20160 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 20095 *** |
Distro: x86, Gentoo Linux 1.4_rc4 (after bootstrap build nicely) stimulus: 'emerge system' command issued results: function src_compile, line #71 (Exitcode 2) man.c, line #1107: hexdump missing The problem appears to merely be about the order in which builds are completed. Hardware: Tyan Titan - Dual 180Mhz Pentium Pro - 440FX chipset - 160MB Ram CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="--march=pentiumpro -O2 -pipe" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge system Actual Results: I attempted to do a work around (see Additional Information) Expected Results: built man properly without breaking oops - I didn't know the 'emerge info' feature was there sorry. very nice of you to build it in though, I'll use it in the future. Workaround: emerge util-linux (to put hexdump in place PRIOR to man being built) emerge man (just to see if that was all that was wrong) emerge system (to continue along its merry way) Suggestion: Perhaps you would like to make the 'man' build happen after the util-linux stuff, or very late in the system build process. I had sort of expected hexdump to be a part of the 'binutils' portion. I'm very impressed with your distro so far, thank you for saving us from RPM hell. ;) G.
