Description Kim Eik 2007-12-07 05:28:49 UTC
Pidgin randomly changes my friendly name on the msn protocol to a name in my contact list. the name change is only visible locally.

if i had my friendly name set to "somename" then after a while the name is changed to "somecontactsname", but it is however only visible in my chat dialogue like so:

timestamp "somename": hello how are you?
timestamp "contact": fine, and u?
.........
timestamp "somecontactsname": ya im good.
timestamp "somecontactsname": crap it happened again...
timestamp "contact": what happened?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch pidgin 2.3.0
2.let it run for a couple of minutes
3.Accounts->msn account->set friendly name.

Actual Results:
will have another contacts friendly name set.

Expected Results:
dont have my own friendly name set.

i believe it happened after a upgrade of pidgin or the pidgin library.

This is a known and fixed upstream bug... see http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/4062
it will be in 2.3.1
