Bug 201266 – layman overlay list fetching problem with http_proxy set

Layman fails to get/update a file list when there is a proxy environment variable set.
I've the line

export http_proxy="www-proxy.netcologne.de:8080"

in my /etc/profile.

This works pretty well with portage in general and all my user apps. However, layman bails out with

> # layman -f
> * Fatal error: Failed to fetch overlay list!
> * Fatal error: Error was: iterable argument required
> * Fatal error(s) - aborting

for no apparent reason.

Workaround: unset http_proxy && layman -f

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set http_proxy to some valid proxy server address
2. try layman -f

Actual Results:  
error message described above

Expected Results:  
successful update
