Description
Daniel Drake (RETIRED)
![]() stable on ppc64. I've marked sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.23.9 stable. s/I've/I've also I've been testing it too and I had no problems... amd64 out Should we stabilise sys-apps/v86d, too? Good idea, x86 please do that too. For other arches it is not essential, vesafb-tng was never usable on non-x86. But for x86 yes we should mark v86d stable too. It would be really nice to get v86d-0.1.3 stabilized instead of one of the previous versions -- it fixes an important bug which will completely break uvesafb for users who have some specific video cards. v86d is marked testing for amd64 and the documentation says it works for x64...so readd amd64 for sys-apps/v86d-0.1.3 Michal, nice work, I have the splash screen working th first time on my laptop. x86 stable for vanilla-/gentoo-sources and sys-apps/v86d-0.1.3 v86d-0.1.3 works fine for me on AMD64 --- Portage 2.1.3.19 (default-linux/amd64/2007.0, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.6.1-r0, against gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3. svgalib-1.9.25 fails to build against gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3 without the patch from this bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195632 Both of these don't appear to be the kernels fault, but it would help alleviate some future problems if they are resolved before making the kernel stable. And users recompile their modules for the new kernel. please file a bug for the alsa issue if there is not one already The stable version of ipw3945 doesn't build against gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3. It gets an access denied error from sandbox trying to read (and later write) /usr/src/linux/.lst, and then spits out 1902 (helpfully numbered!) pages of gas (assembler) output. Since there were sandbox errors, it doesn't merge. Would you like this filed as a separate bug and set as a dependency, or will you handle it within this bug? Created attachment 137805 [details]
ipw3945-1.2.0 on gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3 build log
This is the output I got from emerge when I tried to merge ipw3945-1.2.0 on gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3. I had to bzip2 it because it's 5 MB otherwise. ;-)
There is already a bug for that issue, bug #195137, please search. It is not a kernel bug and hence does not obstruct the kernel going stable (provided that I give ample warnings to the maintainers, which I did). If the bug is not fixed, you should comment on the existing closed bug or open a new one. v86d (angelos), gentoo-sources (tester) and vanilla-sources (drac) stable on amd64 both vanilla- and gentoo-sources stable on ppc Sparc stable. ia64 stable As for alpha, we have a problem with our dev box not being able to boot with >2.6.23 and could be due to aboot, we are working on this and tomorrow we should have an answer :) Err, i meant >=2.6.23 Okay, it was aboot, blame Tobias :P 2.6.23-r8 marked stable, release, please add it to the snapshot |
