Description Navid Zavosh 2007-11-24 00:14:45 UTC
According to mythtv.org the plugin mythdvd is supposed to support all DVD functionality:
There FAQ says:

How can I get DVD menus to work?

If you are using an older install of MythDVD you may still be using mplayer to play DVDs. Mplayer doesn't support DVD menus. MythDVD now uses an Internal player to play DVDs which supports all DVD functionality including menus. If you change the DVD Player Command from mplayer to Internal (Capital I) you should be able to use DVD menus.

However I'm using the latest mythtDVD (media-plugins/mythdvd-0.20.2_p14282)with the preset Internal player, but it doesn't manage to navigate through new rental DVD's menues. I don't know if the bug should be reported here or to mythtv maby there's a new DVD-menu standard that they haven't implemented yet!?

Reproducible: Always

What DVD exactly? Typically these get reported directly upstream. The MythDVD maintainer and I both have Netflix accounts and we'll test out exact DVDs.

Additionally when using the internal player, mythdvd actually doesn't do anything but put an icon on your menu for play DVD. All the DVD playing logic is in mythtv itself so it's dependent on the version of mythtv that you use.

Need to know the DVD, the version of MythTV. The USE flags used to build MythTV.

Additionally, mplayer does suppose DVD menus, you just need to compile support for it.
