This problem only occurs with gentoo-sources kernels. It does not occur with vanilla kernels.
When using the hibernation scripts provided by sys-power/suspend, which include the creation of an initrd file, after s2disk the system does not resume properly.
Analogous information had been sent to the kernel bugzilla (see below), but it turned out to be a problem probably related to the gentoo patch 4205_vesafb-tng-1.0-rc2.patch

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Compile a kernel with vesafb-tng enabled (CONFIG_FB_VESA_TNG=y)
2.Prepare initrd file according to package sys-power/suspend
3.Hibernate with s2disk
4.Try to resume

Actual Results:  
After the suspend image is loaded, the system freezes.

Expected Results:  
The system should resume

vesafb-tng is gone since 2.6.23; if you have issues w/ >=gentoo-sources-2.6.23 and uvesafb, then reopen.
