Bug 197722

Summary: media-tv/mythtv : xinitrc should call mythwelcome instead of mythfrontend
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Nick Kralevich <nick.gentoo>

Status: RESOLVED FIXED
Severity: enhancement CC: ace, flow, loki_666

Description Nick Kralevich 2007-11-01 04:03:39 UTC
Currently, media-tv/mythtv adds a ~myth/.xinitrc file which contains the following line:

exec /usr/bin/mythfrontend -l /var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log -v important,general

Can you please change this line to read:

exec /usr/bin/mythwelcome

mythwelcome calls mythfrontend automatically, so there should be no noticeable user change unless you're using the capabilities of mythwelcome.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

I had been hesitant to add this due to the 100ms select() loop found in mythwelcome. However they recently fixed the issue and so far it seems to be working fine. It'll make it in the next revision.

This change will be something I'll implement for the 0.21 series. It'll also be making it fully configurable.

looks like this old bug is still not fixed yet we are currently on .22

Amazingly this is one of those things that has slipped through the cracks. Its finally implemented in 0.25.1_p20120708.
