I am fairly sure that this is not a MySQL bug. All scripts in the etc/init.d folder appear to be equally affected. The reason why I used mysql in my example is that the service appeared to be starting correctly despite the warning messages. This bug needs to be referred onto whoever maintains the /etc/init.d common scripts. Each time I run one rc script from a new folder, the folder name is added to the list of folders in the error messae. Thus the length of the error message keeps on increasing! The bugs still show up after an env-update and a system reset. It's quite hideous to see a huge list of these errors pollute the nasty screen that is normally full of sensible looking [ok] service start messages. sal@imelda init.d $ sudo ./apache start /sbin/runscript.sh: line 75: /var/tmp/portage/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 76: /etc/init.d/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 77: /home/sal/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 78: /etc/hotplug/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 79: /etc/apache/conf/vhosts/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 80: /home/httpd/htdocs/jukebox-4.1/www/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 81: /home/httpd/htdocs/jukebox-4.1/http: No such file or directory /sbin/runscript.sh: line 82: /etc/conf.d/http: No such file or directory * Starting apache...
