Bug 196355 – dev-util/subversion-1.4.4-r4 won't build if only sys-libs/db-4.5.20_p2 is installed

building subversion with only sys-libs/db-4.5.20_p2 installed results in the below listed problems. seems like svn is not able to find the current version of db, tries to revert to a hardcoded default which naturally isn't installed (which is not available via portage).

checking for trang... none
checking for socket in -lsocket... no
checking for availability of Berkeley DB... no
configure: error: Berkeley DB 4.0.14 wasn't found.
