NetworkManager 0.7 will require that wpa_supplicant be started at boot (or using dbus instantiation) with the -u option to claim the wpa_supplicant dbus configuration interface.

Reproducible: Always

No it really shouldn't have an initscript; get NM fixed/working with dbus properly.
Comment 3 Robert Piasek (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-01-14 13:37:57 UTC
NM 7 works fine with dbus, but only more recent version (dbus-1.1.2) can start services on demand (like wpa_supplicant). Although it works for other distros couldn't force it to work with gentoo.

Yeah, I know, I am working on it, unfortunately, I am currently unemployed and rent is more important than starting wpa_supplicant here :) I *am* working on getting it fixed :)

Robert - I just checked in the 1.1.3 release, could you sync in a few hours and test if you can get it working then? As Jakub said, an init script is the wrong thing to use here - we need to get system-activation working properly with dbus.
