I tried to upgrad to dev-java/java-config-2.1.1. At the end, the emerge process failed:

Same here; this whole thing is caused by the broken location this gets installed to; .py[co] files don't belong to /usr/share, breaks on python upgrade.

This was already fixed but ali_bush forgot to close this. Nowadays we install to site-packages like all other python stuff.
