Description Sumit Khanna 2007-10-04 03:33:35 UTC
The latest version on VMWare's website seems to be 6.0.1.55017. I couldn't find the previous version,6.0.0.45731, which is in portage.

I created a new ebuild, just changing the filename, and placed it in my local overlay and it emerged fine, however, even after I reran the module config and reloaded all the modules, I still can not start VMWare. I get "Version mismatch with vmmon module: expecting 167.0, got 161.0. You have an incorrect version of the vmmon kernel module."

What has to be done to bump the modules to the correct version?

Reproducible: Always

There is already a bumped version being testing the vmware overlay (which you can use through layman) and can be found http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/vmware/. This is being held back a little to see whether the developers of the vmware-any-any patches can catch up. I hope that answers your question...

I'm going to mark this bug as a duplicate of the security bug requesting version bumps of all versions.
