In Code Listin 9 in the Developer's HOWTO (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/gentoo-howto.html) and the following text, 
the syntax of "sys-apps/foo-1.2*" is incorrect.  It should read "=sys-apps/foo-1.2*".  This syntax currently 
documented DOES NOT work.  The corrected syntax works and is present in many ebuilds (most notably all of the 
KDE 2 stuff which depends on a version of QT 2).
