Confirmed. I think this change in r1 does more harm then good, as there are many people (like myself) who have xorg-server-1.3.0.0 running just fine with renderproto-0.9.3. Please revert this so users don't have to mask it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 191709 *** (In reply to comment #2) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 191709 *** > I do not consider this a duplicate of that bug. This is a new bug caused by a poor fix for that other bug. |
Well, because of some another bug, xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r1 requires <renderproto-0.9.3, but libXrender-0.9.4 requires >=renderproto-0.9.3, which causes world update to fail: ------------ # emerge -auND world These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating world dependencies - !!! Multiple versions within a single package slot have been !!! pulled into the dependency graph: ('installed', '/', 'x11-proto/renderproto-0.9.2', 'nomerge') pulled in by ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-base/xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r1', 'merge') ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-proto/renderproto-0.9.3', 'merge') pulled in by ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/libXrender-0.9.4', 'merge') It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be installed simultaneously. For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook. !!! Depgraph creation failed. -------------- adding =libXrender-0.9.4 to package.mask will help a half, becouse libXrender-0.9.2 still tries to install the newest version of renderproto and it conflicts again. So it can be solved for a while by adding =x11-libs/libXrender-0.9.4 and =x11-proto/renderproto-0.9.3 to package.mask, but I hope it isn't a final step;)
