I've finally got my Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter to work after using Louis-Dominique Dubeau's script. You can find it in the deb package available at the website I've linked to above. Is there a possibility of adding this fix to Gentoo? Maybe an ebuild, maybe other clever solution? It's a crucial issue for owners of R5C822, as it does not work unless you use this script.
