With one of 1.0.7185, 1.0.9639 and 100.14.x you get support for *all* cards our there. If they don't work for you, that's not our problem, go complain to nVidia or grab older ones from sources.gentoo.org *** Bug 194339 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to comment #1) > With one of 1.0.7185, 1.0.9639 and 100.14.x you get support for *all* cards our > there. If they don't work for you, that's not our problem, go complain to > nVidia or grab older ones from sources.gentoo.org > Well, the thing is, nvnews has a number of threads with people complaining to nvidia regarding the same fault with Geforce4 MX440 cards, along with a few other (I think also MX) models -- textures all show black or dark grey. Nvidia just claims it's either hardware failure, the BIOS, or overheating, despite pre-96xx drivers working fine on these chips. The embarrasing part for nvidia is the main one not working is integrated into the nforce2 chipset. 71xx driver SUPPORTS them but is quite feature incomplete; 8776 supports them and is feature complete (primarily adding support for Composite extension, which 71xx doesn't support.) If 8776 is no longer being patched for current kernels, I can see pulling it -- in that case, here's hoping noveau gets ready very soon! Otherwise, though, the remaining drivers absolutely do not fully support all nvidia cards. *** Bug 195292 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
