Description William Sherwin 2007-09-20 04:30:17 UTC
I cannot hear sound in files encoded with the mp4a format and, according to the VideoLAN forums, the way to enable this support is to compile with the faad option - which is not currently an option in the ebuild.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Compile VLC.
2.Attempt to play a mp4a file (the one in question was .mov).
3.Look at the text written to STDOUT.

Actual Results:
VLC media player 0.8.6c Janus
[00000327] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mp4a'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Expected Results:
There should be a way to eliminate this error (see above).

Re-emerge ffmpeg with AAC support.
