Description Calum 2007-09-17 11:23:11 UTC
Creating SSL cert when installing ejabberd waits with no obvious indicator

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
During the emerge process it asks for:

Creating SSL key ...
Enter PEM pass phrase:
Verifying - Enter PEM pass phrase:

After entering it twice it waits indefinately. I guessed that it was asking for the country, state, name etc, so put in some random junk:

xx
xx
xx
xx
xx
xx
xx
Enter pass phrase for /tmp/privkey.pem:

This worked, although I had some further warnings:

chown: cannot access `/etc/jabber/ssl.pem': No such file or directory
 * Please be sure that your /etc/jabber/ejabber.cfg points to /etc/jabber/ssl.pem
 * You may want to edit /etc/jabber/ssl.cnf and run /etc/jabber/self-cert.sh again

Unfortunately, this report is missing information that I need to help you. Specifically, it is missing:
1) the version of the faulty ebuild (likely an old one)
2) emerge --info

Please provide these and reopen the bug, although it is still likely to be a duplicate of bug

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 178615 ***
Comment 2 Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-17 14:49:54 UTC
Disregard earlier comment, I've decided to explicitly mark this as a duplicate and do not need additional information. I will try to mark get the 1.1.4 ejabberd ebuild marked stable as the only open bug is a feature request.
For now you may want to echo "net-im/ejabberd" >> /etc/jabber/package.keywords
