I often test kernels out, trying to find out the best one and having the kernel config in /proc/config is invaluable. The trying part is that this feature is present in some versions of some kernels and not in others. Except for vanilla-sources, this option should, it is suggested, be available and user-selectable for every gentoo kernel possible.

yep. this is already in gentoo-sources. i'm sure we'll add this to other gentoo maintained 
kernels as we see fit.
