desktop file is bad, because vmware does not start (a error is some kind of symbol  search).

This issue is reported to vmware, and a workarround is to replace the command section in desktop file to:
VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force '/opt/vmware/workstation/bin/vmware'
As says in VMWare forum (can't remember URI Now..)

This is valid, at least in my amd64 box.

Get the real issue fixed upstream, don't 'fix' desktop files.
