Description Yan-Fa Li 2007-09-05 07:45:40 UTC
Since I started using 2.6.20-r10 gentoo sources, when I start k3b to burn a dvd the system locks up and reboots. If I boot using 2.6.22-r5 this doesn't happen. I have to side issues, one I'm using nvidia-drivers and two I applied the latest cfs patch from Ingo's web site.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. boot 2.6.20-r10 on x86-64
2. wait for X to start up
3. start k3b

Actual Results:
system reboots

Expected Results:
system does not reboot

I'm running with CFS patches sched-cfs-v2.6.20.16-v20.5
I'm running with the binary nvidia-drivers v 100.14.11

Well, so use 2.6.22-r5, it's stable. Any custom patches -> unsupported and not a Gentoo problem.
Comment 4 Yan-Fa Li 2007-09-06 03:36:42 UTC
Yeah sure. I was reporting it just because I happened to be using vmware which only runs well under 2.6.20 series kernels. Yes, I know you don't care, it's all commercial software :) I was hoping whomever maintains 2.6.20 actually cares to see there was a real bug. I won't bother in the future.
Comment 5 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-06 06:50:23 UTC
That's unfortunate, but a completely different issues, see Bug 189062. Once the bug is fixed in stable kernel, it's very unlikely to get backported.

Thanks.
