The summary says it all. I assume that was just inherited from the older pyparted ebuilds. None of the files (including the Fedora .spec) in the source tarball mention anything about it only working on python-2.4.

Your assumption is 100% correct.  I've now changed it to be >=python-2.4 since I bet it still won't work with python 2.3... ;]
