Description Matt Fleming (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-09 18:16:51 UTC
A vulnerability has been reported in Asterisk, which can be exploited by malicious users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability is caused due to the Skinny channel driver (chan_skinny) improperly processing packets. This can be exploited to crash the application by sending a "CAPABILITIES_RES_MESSAGE" packet with the capabilities count greater than the total number of items in the "capabilities_res_message" array.

CC'ing maintainers and setting whiteboard status.
Comment 2 Rajiv Aaron Manglani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-09 20:02:38 UTC
the 1.2.x branch of asterisk is not vulnerable, only the 1.4.x branch which is not in portage.

see bug #185713 for tracking.
