Description Dieter Ries 2007-08-08 18:15:51 UTC
With x11-drivers/ati-drivers- 8.39.4 I can't switch to a non graphical console using Ctrl-Alt-Fx anymore, backlight is on, but no picture on the screen. Switching back to F7 works, but slowly. When using a ssh remote login, and /etc/init.d/xdm stop'ing, it still doesn't work, and afterwards restarting it is not possible. Also, shutting down the machine via the remote login doesn't work then, sshd stops, but laptop is still running.

I think it should be hard masked again.

System is a Lenovo Thinkpad T60, core2duo proc., ATI Radeon Mobility X1400, 2GB Ram.

I am using kernel parameters:
VGA=0x31A pci=bios acpi_sleep=s3_bios

make.conf: http://rafb.net/p/NqE2Nc45.html
xorg.conf: http://rafb.net/p/d3qEl850.html
emerge --info: http://rafb.net/p/OJwzUk70.html
.config: http://rafb.net/p/QLsRvQ25.html

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =ati-drivers-8.39.4

You can try your luck upstream, we cannot fix binary-only cruft. And never refer to pastebins in bugs, please.
