Bug 18790 – knewsticker is missing libkcm_newsticker.la

knewsticker does not seem to be compiled even though I've got kde 3.1.1 
When trying to look at it in KDE Control module it says that 
libkcm_newsticker.la is missing.

the right file name should be /usr/kde/3.1/lib/kde3/kcm_knewsticker.la, it should not 
look for libkcm_newsticker.la, try emerging again kdenetwork, and look if in you 
~/.kde/applnk/Settings/Personalization/ the file kcmnewsticker.desktop is present, this 
could be an old file causing problem, you have to remove it (or maybe 
libkcmnewsticker.desktop)

I've tried recompiling kdenetwork-3.1.1 and it says it was successful, but the 
problem persists. 
 
in my~/.kde directory (which is a link to ~/.kde3.1) there are Autostart 
socket-Martha tmp-Martha share socket-Martha.crystal.com 
tmp-Martha.crystal.com 
 
(computer's name is Martha, domain is crystal.com) 
There is no applnk directory there. But there is one in ~/.kde/share 
The ~/.kde/share/applnk/Settings/Personalization is empty. 
 
I'm not sure what else to tell you. I'm stuck.

is /usr/kde/3.1/lib/kde3/kcm_knewsticker.la present?

Close dead old bug originally resolved "needinfo".
