The OpenLDAP ebuild has hardcoded CFLAGS which break when the Kerberos prefix is changed.  krb5-config or krb4-config should be used instead.

Ok, I banged it onto 2.3.43-r1 and 2.4.11-r1.
Please test and report back, since I have no kerberos systems at all.
