Bug 185338 – genkernel wont compile 2.6.22 kernels

wrong  config  physical  start ,  needs  to  be  multiple  of  2mb,  not  something  changeable  by  menuconfig,  always  gives  genkernel  default

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.run  genkernel
2.attempt  to  build  kernel
3.

Actual Results:  
failed  on  wrong  config_physical_start

Expected Results:  
compiled kernel

No,  There  isnt  a  problem  with  genkernel,  its  simply  that  with  the  2.6.22  kernels  you  MUST  select configure standard kernel feature under general setup, Then just under build relocatable kernel will show up the physical start address and you need to replace the 1 with a 2

The described solution does not resolve the problem.
There is a related forum dicussion where one user suggested
as a solution to manually edit .config, seehttp://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-570173-highlight-configphysicalstart.html


In menuconfig, I have done the following to circumvent the problem without success:

1) Enabled  
>General setup > Configure standard kernel features (for small systems)

2) Enabled 
> Processor type and features >  Build a relocatable kernel(EXPERIMENTAL)

3) Changed 
> Processor type and features > (0x100000) Physical address where the kernel is loaded 

to 

> Processor type and features > (0x200000) Physical address where the kernel is loaded 


Unfortunately the problem persists!!! Even if the above approach would work, it is probably a bad idea to build relocatable kernels even if this is not required.

The genkernel command is as follows:
#genkernel --menuconfig --lvm2 --dmraid --luks all
