The document (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-install.xml) has some
problems which could confuse inexperienced users/users who do not have access to
help channels:

1) When using the live CD the CD will already be mounted. Users may be confused
when they try to mount it as outlined above, and get errors.
2) In code listing 8.1 we see: tar -xvjpf /mnt/cdrom/build/stage?-*.tbz2. This
is not the correct path when using the Live CD (I believe it's
/mnt/cdrom/ppc-stages/ or perhaps saying /mnt/cdrom/*-stages to include
g3-stages and g4-stages).
3) Running "env-update" as in listng 8.2 may also warn about a missing
/etc/make.conf. This is not outlined after the listing and may cause
inexperienced users to worry, even though the warning is not serious (we have
not emerge'd yet).
4) It may be worth pointing out that there are alternative (and perhaps more
highly recommended) kernels during stage 13. Alternatives such as benh's kernel
sources (sys-kernel/ppc-sources-benh) can provide much better support. Perhaps
saying "You should only use the sys-kernel/ppc-sources* gentoo kernels on
PowerPC based machines", and explaining other options briefly, might be more useful.

The new installation guide for 1.4_rc6 available now on the server should take care about a lot of the mentioned points.  pvdabeel will work on point 3 during the next days.

As soon as I receive the 1.4-CDs via snail mail I will take the x86-FAQ and flavour it with the ppc-specific changes.  So I assign this bug to myself.
