why not getting it merged in the main vlc ? I really dont think it would be wise to patch vlc to support more modules, I try to stick as close as possible to upstream as they're doing quite a good work. If that's merged in main vlc, I'll for sure enable it when it'll be released. Well, I'm not a VLC developper, nor a VLVC one, so I don't know if they plan to merge this in mainstream or not. It's just that it's annoying to manually compil and patch VLC each time a new version is released, and moreover it could help gentoo people to discover this great addon ^^. If the patch is optionnal using a disabled flag by default, is it that bad to support more module ? Anyway if you feel like it's really a bad idea, just close this bug ^_^ Regards. well, I'd really prefer this gets merged upstream, I'm not a vlc developper either and they're the people to talk to in order to include more features in it. I don't know if it's possible or not to have it released as a standalone module, but in that case it'll need its own ebuild. |
