The ebuild warns you at the start of the build, that you'll get no help when building without java, so no bug here. @Andreas AFAIS it should work wrt CXXHelpLinker. Or do you skip that section somehow? It is at least in the apply file. Anyway, I had this issue, too, with my version. I can confirm that in my case adding USE=java fixed it. Thank you for your answer and sorry for not having noticed the warning message at the beginninig of the build.
