Description Björn Lindström 2003-03-25 14:12:33 UTC
Upgrading to glibc-2.3.1-r4 seems to break Mutts' (1.4.1) reading of files.

Downgrading to glibc-2.3.1-r2 solved the problem, but that does not seem
desirable because of GLSA: glibc (200303-22).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install glibc-2.3.1-r4
2. run mutt from package mutt-1.4.1

Actual Results:
All characters read from messages are shown as question marks (in the index) and
byte codes of the form \nnn (the messages themselves, as well as help text etc.)

Expected Results:
Duh!

Downgrading to glibc-2.3.1-r2 didn't work for me. Compiling mutt with or without slang didn't either. For more details on my case, go see http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=45053

Does upgrade to mutt-1.5.* solve the problem?

please try out latest glibc/mutt combo's and see if this is still an issue
