Description Tomasz Cichecki 2003-03-24 04:58:04 UTC
With emerging ghostscript Everythings goes well but when I want to run it
complains:
knight@asteroid knight $ gs
ESP Ghostscript 7.05.5: Can't find initialization file gs_init.ps, but all the files
ghostscript needs are on their place.
The most strange of all is when I type `gs --help or gs -h` I can see the
following(the last few lines of the information gs gives me):

Search path:
   . : /home/knight/.kde/share/fonts :
   /var/tmp/portage/ghostscript-7.05.5/image//usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/lib :
   /var/tmp/portage/ghostscript-7.05.5/image//usr/share/ghostscript/fonts :
   /usr/share/fonts/default/ghostscript : /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1 :
   /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType : /usr/lib/DPS/outline/base :
   /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 : /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType
For more information, see
/var/tmp/portage/ghostscript-7.05.5/image//usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/doc/Use.htm.

I don't know how those "/var/tmp/portage..." got compiled into the execuable (I
search the elf executable in vim and indeed they are compiled in and I can't figure
out or find a configuration file)
The resualts are that for exemple kghostview in KDE doesn't show PDFs in
konqueror. (Its launches KGhostView which seems to launch ghostscript which in
turn fails).

is this bug still valid?
Comment 4 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-07-06 06:48:55 UTC
Yes it is. I have it.
Comment 5 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-07-13 06:29:26 UTC
Traced it to a problem in the glib2 .pc. Cf bug #24385 which I've just submitted
about it. Can't do anything further on this myself atm as I'm leaving linuxtag for
home but won't get there for a couple of days.
