Bug 18022

Summary: In KDE 3.1.1, when I right-click on a desktop icon and then choose an item from the pop-up menu, the desktop pop-up menu appears.

Description William Davis 2003-03-22 20:55:20 UTC
This happens no matter which item from the icon's popup menu I choose. The menu
that is supposed to come up when I right-click on an empty part of the desktop
comes us along with whatever item I chose from the icon's menu. I've only
noticed this behavior since KDE 3.1.1.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right-Click on any desktop item
2. Choose any menu item, for example "rename"
3.

Actual Results:
The selected action happens AND the desktop pop-up menu also opens.

Expected Results:
Only the selected action should have happened
Comment 1 William Davis 2003-03-24 03:27:17 UTC
This bug came up in the forums - qt-3.1.2 corrects it.
Comment 2 Michiel de Bruijne 2003-03-27 12:59:05 UTC
Stephan Binner also suggested updating to QT 3.1.2 see
(http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56248)
Comment 3 Sergey Kuleshov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-30 12:43:53 UTC
I'm having exactly the same problem with kde-3.1.1. I'm not sure that qt-3.1.2 will aactually solve this problem, as emerging it blocks kdebase-3.1.1 (they say that it is know to cause a number of bugs).
Comment 4 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-24 15:54:50 UTC
I can confirm that this still happens with the newest stable qt and kde. This does appear to be an upstream issue though.
Comment 5 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-28 13:42:04 UTC
Since this is an upstream KDE issue, I'm closing as a WONTFIX. Please report to them if the
problem still persists so it can be fixed in future versions of KDE.
