I'm a little afraid to try to make this work. The zinf configure checks explicitly for freetype1 and 
the sourcefiles are presumbaly written against freetype1. I don't know anything about the 
precise api-level differences between freetype 1 and 2, so it may compile and work for me and 
later show up wierd problems. 
I'd really like the zinf developer's opinion on this first... 
Anyway, I may try this later, after the current release cycle (bugs get priority).

Time to release tends to become constant... 
Anyway, since I'll be quitting development soon, someone else needs to handle this. Although I 
suspect someone might just close it eventually and be done with it.
