Description Togge 2007-05-07 06:53:29 UTC
sys-apps/baselayout-2.0.0_alpha2 starts xdm to fast, resulting in no keyboard in X. Not sure where this bug really should go but the error is only visible with this version. Serial or parallel startup makes no difference. I've seen this on two machines, one ~amd64 and one ~x86. Omitting xdm from the default runlevel and starting it manually after login removes the problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 Togge 2007-05-09 18:38:44 UTC
Seems like this is due to that xdm is started before all of the tty's are. Any keyboard input is placed on tty2 and can be viewed (garbled) it xdm is stopped via ssh.

Solution still a mystery :(

This should be fixed in the latest xinit/xdm init script.
