is IMHO wrong.
I had to do:
echo "media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-firmware ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge linuxtv-dvb-firmware

CCing the VDR team to take a look at this -- maybe get the arch teams to stabilize the affected package, if it actually *does* need to be emerged?

Those packages are all stable, not ~arch. Also, you haven't said which card you have, nor what the errors work, nor why this package worked for you.
