Description Robert Lippmann 2007-04-22 20:33:19 UTC
After upgrading to the latest unstable mythtv (0.20_p13288) running mytharchive yields a warning about being compiled against the wrong version of libmyth (installed is 0.20.20060828-4, compiled against 0.20.20060828-3).

You can just hit ok and move on, and there's probably not much of a difference between the revs of libmyth but I'm not sure. Marking the priority as minor bug rather than normal bug for this reason.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. upgrade to latest mythtv unstable
2. go to Optical Disks -> Archive Files in mythfrontend
3. warning message occurs
Comment 1 Robert Lippmann 2007-04-22 20:43:44 UTC
Actually, I posted too soon. Updating to normal since once you hit OK there's no way to use mytharchive since it returns you to the previous menu.

re-emerge it.

The only thing that would really cause this is if you ever hand installed MythTV and did not clean up after yourself.
Comment 3 Robert Lippmann 2007-04-25 21:18:41 UTC
Re-emerging fixed it. I didn't compile by hand been using portage for the ebuilds all along. I also get the same error with mythvideo. Perhaps the latest mythtv ebuild should force a recompile of the plugins with older versions?
Comment 4 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-25 23:00:07 UTC
Actually I do see it. I had missed it at first where they bumped the binary plugin protocol...

How exactly do you propose forcing a re-compile?
Comment 5 Robert Lippmann 2007-04-26 07:33:06 UTC
Not really sure how to force a recompile, but then again I don't know that much about ebuild internals.

Bumping the plugin ebuilds in portage to the same patchset as mythtv at the same time probably makes this bug go away now and in the future, though, just by virtue of the fact that the plugins depend on the main mythtv ebuild.

try the 0.20.1 versions in the tree.
