Description fizzle shizzle 2007-04-09 12:46:53 UTC
i have a gentoo install which has been kept upto date but is quite old and xvmc works with mplayer on it. when i did a new install (different hdd otherwise same)i had to copy over /etc/X11/XvMCConfig, which contains /usr/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA.so

I feel that this should be created automatically, by nvidia-drivers
or at least add this fix suggestion to the nvidia-howto

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install gentoo using the standard guide and cli process
2.install nvidia-drivers and mplayer
3.type mplayer -vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc dvd:// -dvd-device /dev/dvd

Actual Results:
mplayer wont run xvmc, and the term even needs to be 'reset' as typing doesnt get echoed

Expected Results:
mplayer plays fluid crisp motion compensation accelerated video

my system is a PIII 933 with nv6200 and i need this to get fluid playback

xvmc playback is on par with windows dvd playing software, everything else is totally substandard (speed wise)
