1 month has gone, nothing has changed. Anything wrong with my analysis?

nothing wrong with your analysis, just not a lot of motivation to actually fix the issue as this is the last release of beryl...As everything will be different in the new joint venture of beryl and compiz. Not sure how that code is going to turn out, and upstream is meh to any patches either so...

new release of upstream is coming..and beryl itself is now depreciated from upstream in favor of the joint effort.
