Currently, the installation doc sais:

"""
Warning: In the case of syslog-ng you need to create
/etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf. See /etc/syslog-ng for a sample configuration file.
"""

However the current syslog-ng default provides a syslog-ng.conf (previous

- Remove the Warning.

yes, you are rightm the new version 1.6.0 does not require creating the configuration file, however, currently syslog-ng 1.4.16 is stable on gentoo.

so, the statement is still vaild.. we might include more information, but this is not critical.. i recommend that we leave it as it is, for the time being.. and if 1.6.0 gets stable, we can modify the statement..

any comment?

cheers..

The 1.6.0 is in stable: from the 1.6.0-ebuild:

"""
KEYWORDS="x86 ~ppc ~sparc alpha"
"""

Comment 3 Jorge Paulo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-24 20:58:30 UTC
Removed warning since syslog-ng as of 1.6.0 has a default conf.
