Description Steve Hnizdur 2002-04-13 11:41:26 UTC
I am a first time user of Gentoo. I have followed all the install instructions
using all default options. After issuing Code listing 23 (ie emerge --usepkg
system) and going away for a while the following was displayed. (Unfortunately I
cannot cut and paste it!)

....`/usr/portage/distfiles/devfsd-v1.3.24.tar.gz' saved [42226/42226]

>>> md5 ;-) devfsd-v1.3.24.tar.gz

>>> Source unpacked.

-DLIBNSL="\"/lib/libnsl.so.1\""  -c -o devfsd.o devfsd.c
devfsd.c:494: `DEVFSD_NOTIFY_DELETE' undeclared here (not a function)
devfsd.c:494: initializer element is not constant
devfsd.c:494: (near initialization for `event_types[7].type')
make: *** [devfsd.0] Error 1

!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_complie, Line 1, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

!!! emerge aborting on  /usr/portage/sys-apps/devfsd-1.3.24.ebuild .

How do I recover from this. Do I have to recompile everything again??

This seems to be a problem with our linux-headers and should now be fixed.
