Description Ilias 2007-03-30 18:08:16 UTC
Thought, I'd report. Following part of dmesg which disapears by downgrading to 8.34 driver version:

BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000001] code: X/3991
caller is kas_GetExecutionLevel+0xb/0x17 [fglrx]

and similar. See attachements for dmesg output.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge ati-drivers-8.35.5
2.dmesg

Actual Results:
Downgrading to 8.34.8 makes dmesg look fine again

I dont know wether this is serious or if I could correct it. But as games start accelerated its probably not a big thing.

You should report such stuff to ATI (including kernel version and your kernel .config)
Comment 3 Ilias 2007-03-31 01:33:07 UTC
ok, did driverfeedback towards ati.

There is a bug in the smp code which should be fixed in next major release ( 8.37.x ) until them you should disable the smp or simply deal with it.

ok, thank you for information.

So I think, with this info bug can be closed, right ?

Would be ok for me. Thank you.

8.37.6, 8.39.4 and 8.40.4 in the tree; assuming FIXED.
