Can not emerge mplayer the compilation fails the last bit of the compilation are: 
 
mplayer.c:955: `dvdp' undeclared (first use in this function) 
mplayer.c:955: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once 
mplayer.c:955: for each function it appears in.)

do you have "dvd" in USE?

Did a reboot and an emerge rsync and I now compiles although no sound
