Maybe you could post some URL at least? :) (In reply to comment #1) > Maybe you could post some URL at least? :) Sorry (: IEGD 5.1 http://downloadmirror.intel.com/df-support/9871/eng/IEGD_5_1_Linux.tgz IEGD 6.1 is "hidden" inside some Windoze installer at http://downloadmirror.intel.com/df-support/12300/eng/IEGD_6_1_Gold_Extract.exe (~56MB, at least WinRAR is not able to extract the file without installing). The TGZ is ~4MB, I could attach it here - or, if I ever get around to configuring my Apache, put it somewhere on the web. Aren't those chips now fully supported by the "regular" xf86-video-intel driver? They are indeed. I totally forgot about that request because I haven't been playing with the box that contains the chip for ages. ...so this bug could be closed/marked as invalid. (In reply to comment #5) > ...so this bug could be closed/marked as invalid. Done Is this bug relevant again with the poulsbo-chipset / GMA500? yes. the new version of IEGD (10.3) is reported to work with the GMA 500 in recent kernels. IEGD is the way to go from now on. the deprecated, unmantained and "overpatched" psb fails hardly. Reopened on reqeust. Do we need that? http://community.edc.intel.com/t5/Software-Tools-Discussions/patch-to-iegd-10-3-linux-driver-on-2-6-33/td-p/2328;jsessionid=F53C537CF89302E6617F4CE81F8AEDF7 http://edc.intel.com/Software/Downloads/IEGD/ http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/434957-iegd-drivers-intel-gma-500-working.html I'll keep the X11 herd CCed because I still like to know what goes around X11 in Gentoo, but let me crystal-clear on IEGD: the X11 herd will not maintain it. If the driver breaks because of a newer Xorg, then tough luck, we will _not_ hold back any stabilization for binary drivers. With that in mind, let me forward this bug to our Lead Kitten who is already in charge of Poulsbo. Cheers yet one more link: http://www.nanoant.com/linux/compiling-kernel-iegd-10x-module-for-any-linux-distribution Any news on this one? I'm another unlucky chosen by the PSB :( Does anyone still want this? It is not possible to use IEGD in Gentoo anymore as xorg-server-1.9 has been removed from the tree. Instead, use the in-kernel GMA500 driver with xf86-video-modesetting (unaccelerated). |
