Description Trey Boudreau 2007-03-22 16:32:00 UTC
netqmail lacks the remote SMTP auth patch enabling it to use a smtproute requiring a login. The older (and now masked) qmail ebuilds use the files qmail-remote-auth-log-fix.patch and qmail-remote-auth-patch-doc.txt for this.

I left the severity at "normal", but not having this patch prevents me from switching to netqmail.

No. Please use QMAIL_PATCH_DIR; the aim is *not* to make this yet another patch hell like qmail.

I really need this "patch" as well, let's call it a feature! There are numerous people that use dynamic ips, they just need to authenticate through the smtp server of their ISPs. I really hope this changes very soon!

Won't happen. This ebuild *only* includes patches provided by upstream, and will remain so. Use QMAIL_PATCH_DIR for everything else.

Ok, where can I find more info how to do that?
