Description Tom Hassler 2002-04-12 18:02:36 UTC
After installing Gentoo Linux I wanted to setup the pcmcia file for the
dependencies with my network card (3c589). The script /etc/init.d/pcmcia is
specifically mentioned in the installation documentation but does not exist. I
assume I can emerge the pcmcia-cs, but I see there are problems with this if
you have compiled pcmcia support into the Kernel.

Can I get the definitive way to set this up and how I might best remedy the
situation?

just for giggles I used the Boot disk kernel to emerge the pcmcia-cs to my
system. Seems to have worked despite comments on here that it might not. I
saw that it delivered the /etc/init.d/pcmcia that I was expecting along with
the conf.d files. I rebooted and it seems to work... on to emerging KDE.
